Lo Cirerer is a distinctive wine produced in the Priorat region of Catalonia, Spain. This region is famous for its llicorella (slate) soils and Mediterranean climate, which contribute to the creation of complex and structured wines. Lo Cirerer comes from vineyards located on steep terraces, where ancient strains of Garnacha (Grenache) and Cariñena (Carignan) thrive and develop unique characteristics.
This wine is made mainly with Garnacha and Cariñena, two native varieties that form the heart of Priorat wines. Grenache provides ripe fruit and juiciness, while Cariñena adds structure, vibrant acidity and firm tannins. The combination of these varieties results in a balanced and expressive wine, which reflects the essence of the Priorat terroir.
Lo Cirerer is presented in the glass with a deep and bright red color, suggestive of its concentration and aging potential. On the nose, it displays a complex range of aromas, which includes ripe black fruits such as blackberries and cherries, along with floral, spicy and mineral notes. It is common to find nuances of licorice, cocoa, and a distinctive mineral touch of slate.
On the palate, Lo Cirerer is a powerful and well-structured wine. The tannins are firm but silky, and fresh acidity balances the rich concentration of fruit. The flavors follow the aromatic notes, with layers of ripe fruits, spices and a minerality that adds depth and persistence. The finish is long and elegant, with a lasting impression of complexity and sophistication.
The production of Lo Cirerer involves careful selection of grapes and precise winemaking. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. This oak aging adds layers of complexity and helps soften the tannins, contributing to the refined character of the wine.
Lo Cirerer is ideal to accompany red meat dishes, stews, game and aged cheeses. Its robustness and complexity make it perfect for special occasions and for those who appreciate high-quality wines from Priorat.
